The Firing Line
The Music
Kyle, in charge of guitar and vocals, puts his own spin on various rock and blues techniques to create a new style firmly rooted in the tradition of classic rock. Chris, in charge of bass, takes bits and pieces from many different funk and jazz bass players and melts them all down with his own flare to create a furious and unique bass style. Josh, the man on the skins, takes drumming to a whole new level by combining the power of John Bonham with the speed and grace of Buddy Rich. With these versatile elements, the group creates a well defined mesh of styles, rhythms, and genres that is both musically innovative and entertaining.
Improvisation
The music of the Firing Line is largely based on improvisation and jamming. As a funk/blues group, the instrumental aspect of the music is very free and open to new directions with each performance. The energy and skills of the group are directly related to each member's diverse background and influences.

Original Material
Much of the band's original material comes from their many jam recording sessions, but recently they have begun focusing on creating song structures that will both compliment their tendency for extended instrumental passages and their desire to create more listener friendly material. Examples of both these recording styles can be found on the band's Myspace page.
